Dissertation Citation

It is very important to choose the right citation style for your dissertation, as the choice of the dissertation citation style influences the dissertation evaluation a lot.

The dissertation citation style normally depends on the discipline. For example, students have to use the APA citation style if they are writing the dissertation on social sciences. For the dissertation on humanities it is preferable to use the MLA dissertation citation style. The AMA citation style is normally used to write the dissertation on biological sciences. The most widely spread dissertation citation style is the Turabian citation style, which can be used for the dissertation on any discipline.

The dissertation citation styles have a great amount of common features. For example, it is necessary to double space the lines all around the text. Besides, the student has to arrange the dissertation’s list of references alphabetically. The citations have to be printed in Italic font, or at least underlined. These requirements are common for all the dissertation citation styles.

All the other dissertation citation requirements may vary. They depend on the citation style. For instance, the APA dissertation citation style requires indenting 7 inches of every line but the first. If you use the MLA citation style, you will have to abbreviate all the months’ names (except June, July, and August). The AMA citation style requires that all the references were listed in the order they were mentioned in your dissertation.

Do not forget that it is very important to choose the citation style which suits your dissertation; otherwise you may have to re-do the dissertation.
